designIT was formed in September 1995 under the name Creative Access.

In June 1999 the business was purchased by Sausage Software Limited, a publicly listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange. At that time the company changed its name to Think Information Technology Pty Ltd.

From July 1999 to July 2001, all staff members of Creative Access were employed by Sausage Software Limited. In July 2001 Sausage Software changed its name to SMS Management and Technology Limited and continues to be listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

In late 2001 Think Information Technology Pty Ltd began trading independently as an Internet Technology company and adopted the trading name designIT.
