Hobsons have a new and innovative website branded “Grad Careers” that uses a customized eZ publish Enterprise Level Content Management System. This website provides final-year students and graduates in the areas of business (including Accountancy and Finance), engineering (including Science and IT) and law with the ability to:

• search for jobs

• read company/graduate/training profiles,

• research ‘the market’

• join the Hobsons Graduate Update Service to receive regular targeted bulletins

• perform course searches on post grad courses

Challenges
There were two major challenges involved in the delivery of this project. The website had to integrate into an existing web application so that it did not have to be rebuilt. Also, the project had to be delivered in a short time frame that covered the Christmas holiday period.

eZ Publish is an enterprise level open source content management system (CMS). It is a great product that designIT can easily extend to accommodate the custom functionality outside the standard CMS functions. This enables designIT to put a greater emphasis on planning, quality control and documentation rather than being distracted by the process of building an entire bespoke CMS from ground up. Combined with the fact that designIT are experts in use of HTML, CSS, and agile project management methodologies we were able to deliver for Hobsons a quality result in a relatively short amount time.
